Priests vs. Seminarians
Basketball Challenge-Vocations Office
The Seminarians of the Diocese of San Jose have challenged the Diocesan priests to a basketball game!! The game will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Archbishop Mitty High School, 5000 Mitty Way in San Jose. Adult tickets are $10.00 and student tickets are $5.00. All proceeds from the game will help send our Seminarians to World Youth Day 2008, joining the youth and young adults of our Diocese. SFSYA Group invites you...

Young Adult Group!!!
We welcome ALL Young Adults to come explore your Catholic Faith and meet other Catholic Young Adults in our community. We invite YOU to join us for our SFS YA (Social, Faith Sharing and Service Young Adult) group which meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings for a faith talk or other activity.

This Tuesday, Dec 19th - take a break from the malls and other Christmas activity and join us for our meeting at 7:30pm in the Adult Education Office. We will be doing a Bible Study and will talk about upcoming social and community service activities. Come join in on some spiritual preparation as we continue our Advent journey and await the Season of Christmas!!
Jan 2nd - This will be our next SFS-YA scheduled meeting. Please plan ahead and make it your New Year's resolution to drop by.

We are young adults primarily in our 20's and 30's who are connected by our Catholic faith and actively participate in the life of the Church. We meet regularly for spiritual growth and reflection, fun events, and service projects.

This month's Theology on Tap series will welcome Sr. Gloria Loya from the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley and Lupital Vital from the Hispanic Ministry of the Diocese of San Jose who will be giving a lecture on Our Lady of Guadalupe in both Spanish and English this Sunday, December 10th. This lecture will delve into the mystery of Our Lady of Guadalupe and provide insight into some of our sacred beliefs about her. Prepare to be enlightened!

SFS YA Group--Social, Faith-sharing, and Service Young Adult Group (formerly referred to as St. Mary's YA group)

(Single and Married, 18 to mid 40's)
Have YOU been wanting to refresh what you had learned before or even learn more about your Catholic Faith? Are YOU looking to explore your Catholic Faith and meet other Catholic Young Adults in our community. Then we invite YOU to join us for our SFS YA (Social, Faith Sharing and Service Young Adult) group which meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings for a faith talk or activity.
This Tuesday, Dec. 5th, we will kick-off Advent with an 'Advent Potluck' dinner at 7pm in the Adult Education Office - So that we have enough to eat, give Michele or Ernesto a call to let us know that you will be joining us and bringing something to share. Our 'official' SFS YA meeting will begin around 7:30pm and we will be talking about the Advent Season and also Prayer in and with the Bible.

Dec 7th - Advent Reflection of Pope Benedict XVI's First Encyclical, "God Is Love", 7:30-9pm Hofmann Ctr (see Adult Enrichment column in the bulletin)
Dec 8th - Feast of the Immaculate Conception (a Holy Day of Obligation) - Happy Feast Day to all the members of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish!
Dec. 12th - Advent Reconciliation Service for the Community - In Church. A great way to prepare for Christmas!
Dec 19th - Christmas, Prayer and the Bible (part 2) 7:30-9pm - Adult Education Office

December Service project is being planned to go to Sacred Heart Community Services and/or Commercial Street Inn - more details to follow.

In the spirit of the Mexican tradition of this gospel reenactment, we walk with those who are seeking shelter, posada, today.
